Abstract: Solar energy is destined to have great applications in the future as a clean and renewable energy source. In this paper, the efficiency, structure and stability of several common solar cells, including silicon-based solar cells, thin-film solar cells and perovskite solar cells, are reviewed and prospected. Several recent emerging solar cell fabrication technologies are also reviewed including multijunction solar cells, graphene solar cells and multilayer solar cells.
