Research on Formability of TiH2 Powder and TiH2-6Al-4V Alloy Powder

  • This paper introduces the preparation of TiH2 powder compacts and TiH2-6Al-4V alloy powder compacts by die compacting.The formability and green density variation as a function of compaction pressure are researched.Without any binder,compacts are obtained by die compacting.The results show that the forming of coarse TiH2(40μm)powder is easy,but the forming of milling 30 min TiH2 powder is difficult,and the latter compact is prone to crack.The longer milling the time is,the more difficult forming is.The green densities of coarse TiH2(40μm)powder,high energy ball milling(HEM)30min TiH2 powder and TiH2-6Al-4V powder increase with the pressure increasing.Under the same compaction pressure,the green density of coarse TiH2 powder(40μm)is higher than that of ball milling 30min TiH2 powder.
